Accreditation
         How are these courses accredited?
I do not see my state listed as an accredited agency for a course I would like to take. How do I get the documents I need to get credit for this course?

Accreditation
How are these courses accredited?
Some health-care disciplines have national organizations, such as the American Speech and Hearing Association, that provide accreditation nationally for continuing education. Other disciplines have no national standard for continuing education, and leave that regulation to the individual states. Some states, amazingly enough, also have no continuing education requirements for particular health-care disciplines, but may have requirements for others. Where there is national accreditation, we have chosen to present our course content to the national organization to assure that the greatest number of health-care professionals can receive continuing education credit for our courses. Most states have reciprocity -- that is, they will honor the accreditation of another state's licensing Board. If, however, your state will not do this, you should click on the "course detail" button to print the bio of the author and the learner objectives and outline for the course. (Use your File/Print command to print the necessary documents). The combination of your certificate, the author's biography, and the learner objectives and outline is almost always enough for a state to provide you with the continuing education credit for the course.

We will give you another free course, or gladly refund your payment.

Course
Can I print my online course?
Yes. Most courses are available in an easy-to-print PDF format. When you click on a course title from your My Courses page, it will list a PDF icon next to each lesson. If you click this icon, it will generate a PDF which you may then print directly from your browser, or which you may save to your computer. Please note that due to the size of some of our courses, the PDF file may take time to generate. The PDF option is not recommended for users on dial-ups.

Do I have to be online the entire time to take course or quiz?
Your courses will stay online for 90 days, and you may come in and out of the course as many times as you would like. Also, you may print the PDF and test, read and answer them off-line, and then return to your My Courses tab to input your test answers and score the test.

Do you have continuing education (CE) courses for Physicians?
No, we don't at present. We do have courses accredited for ARNPs, however, through the Florida Board of Nursing.

How do I download my course?
When you log in to the web site, you will arrive on the My Account page. At the top of your screen, you will notice a line of tabs. The second tab from the left should be your My Courses tab. If you click on this tab, it will load a list of your Courses. Click on the Course title to enter the course. Click on the Begin Course button to launch Course.

How do I know that I have completed a course?
Your My Courses page includes a list of all of your Courses. The status column displays three states: Not Attempted, Passed and Failed. There is also a column which displays Expiration date. You may sort your courses by status or expiration date by clicking on the column heading.

How do I report factual errors in a lesson or exam?
We appreciate knowing what's not working or what's wrong. Send us an e-mail through the Author E-mail button within the course; This is located on the first page of every course. It is the “open book” icon. We review your questions before they go to the author and can follow up to be sure the error is corrected.

How do I take a course and get continuing education credit?
1. Sign up and take a course 2. Pass the exam with an 80 percent or greater score 3. Complete the program evaluation form 4. Watch your e-mail for the continuing education certificate to arrive.

How does online testing work?
Most Course Lessons come with a Final Exam. If you click on the Begin Exam button from your course launch page it will launch the online test. It will show you how many questions there are, what question you are currently answering, and what questions you have and have not answered. Most questions are multiple choice. You can save your answers and come back later. When you are done answering all questions you can grade your exam and receive your immediate results.

How long will I have access to an online course?
You will have access to your online course for 90 days from date of purchase.

How much time do I have to take the class?
You have access to any course for 90 days from the time you sign up or until you take the test for that course. We think that is enough time to complete most of our courses, and frankly, we had to put some timeline on it. If you run into a problem and need an extension, contact us at CEU@care2learn.com and we will see what we can do to help!

How will I know how much time I have left before my access code expires?
When you sign in at the "Attend" page, we will tell you what date your course expires! It's that easy!

I'm not a healthcare professional, but I'm looking for information on a specific disease. Can I find it on your site?
You are certainly welcome to take any course on our site. Just enroll and choose “Other” as your discipline. (make up a license number and expiration date!) For specific information of a disease, go to a search engine like Ask Jeeves [www.askjeeves.com] and type in the disease name. Jeeves is an easy site to use. It will give you the links you are looking for. For rare diseases, try http://www.raredz.org.

What are the definitions of PDH, LU and CEU?
PDH - Professional Development Unit (1 PDH = 1 Credit Hour); LU = Learning Unit (1 LU = 1 Credit Hour); CEU = Continuing Education Unit (1 CEU = 10 Credit Hours)

Why can't I find my courses listed on CE Broker?
Why don't you report my completed continuing education hours to my licensing board(s) and/or professional organization?

Reporting
Are my completed continuing education hours reported to my state licensing board(s) and/or professional organization(s)?
Care2Learn reports all completed continuing education hours to the state licensing/certification boards and professional organizations which require we do so. Please click the License Requirements tab to select your state(s) and discipline(s) to view the accreditation information specific to you.

Does Care2Learn report my continuing education to my professional association?
Some accrediting bodies require that we send reports on individual learners, listing unique identifiers, test scores, hours taken, etc. NAB and ASHA are two accrediting bodies for whom we provide reports. Other accrediting agencies require the student to keep their continuing education data themselves, and only spot check on random audits for actual course completion. Please e-mail us at CEU@care2learn.com if you have further questions.

Why can't I find my courses listed on CE Broker?
If you completed an online course with the passing score for your license, Care2Learn will report to CE Broker monthly, as CE Broker requires. After we report to CE Broker, it takes them some time to post your hours on the web.

Why don't you report my completed continuing education hours to my licensing board(s) and/or professional organization?
Not all licensing boards and organizations require, or even want, us to report your completed continuing education hours. Many only ask for proof of completion if you are audited. We can only report to the boards and organizations which require we do so.

Technical
Can I use Care2Learn if I am on a Mac instead of a PC?
Care2Learn can not guarantee our website or our online courses will display and work properly on a Mac and highly recommend using a PC.

How do I change my security settings?
Your security settings should be set at Medium. To check or change your setting in Internet Explorer:
  1. Click on Tools, scroll down and click Internet Options.
  2. Click the third tab at the top of the window named "Privacy".
  3. Click on the slide bar and make sure that it is set to "Medium".
  4. Click on the "Edit" or "Settings" button located at the bottom right hand corner (depending on what version of Explorer you have).
  5. Click cursor on the "Address of Website" tab and then type in www.Care2Learn.com. Click on the "Allow" button so that the Care2Learn website says "Always Allow" in the Managed Website box.
  6. Click "OK and then "OK" again. Shut down the internet browser completely and start the log-in process all over again.

I can’t read the pdf file I downloaded.
GO to our site, click on any course list. Go to any course, click on course details, scroll down to the bottom and click on Get Acrobat reader (the yellow and red icon at the bottom of the page.) Scroll down the page to the gray box. Enter the platform you are on ( this would be the version of Windows you are running or the type of Mac computer you are on.) Select the language you need. You can probably skip Step 2. Click on the red download button. This will take you momentarily to a Thank you page and then take you to a gray dialog box. I asks you if you want to save the file to a disk or open the program from this location. If you are not terribly computer literate or are in a hurry, open the file from this location. But if you want to save yourself this hassle the next time, if I were you I would save the file to a disk so that you will always have the software. Click OK. Now it will open a white dialog box and ask you where you want to put it. The best place to put it is My Computer/ Local Disk:C/ Program files. Click OK then Click Close. You are all set. Now you have the software on your computer, and any time you click on a pdf file it will open. This will include the pdf version of the course, your certificate, and the Author bio and Outline/objectives found under the Course details.

I don't feel comfortable typing my Social Security number on an Internet page?
Your Social Security number is typed on a secure page, where the data is encrypted and safe from prying eyes. Some of the accrediting organizations require a Social Security number as a unique identifier. IF you are not in one of those groups you may use whatever unique identifier you like. Please be assured that we will not release your Social Security number to anyone but the appropriate accrediting organization.

If I don't have Flash Player installed on my computer, how can I install it?
To install the latest version of Flash player, CLICK HERE, or visit the Macromedia website at www.macromedia.com. The download is free.

What about security on your site?
Security is important to you on our site when you give us personal information and credit card number. It is important to us, too. Our order page is a secure page, which you can identify by the small blue padlock or key on the lower browser bar. Also, you will notice in the address bar that the address will change from http:// to https, the S. indicating a secure site. Our software encrypts data on the secure page so that it is safe from prying eyes. We, as a company, are invested in keeping your information completely private. We will not knowingly release any of your information for any purpose, unless required by the accrediting body for the discipline you specify in the registration process.

What are cookies and how do I enable them on my browser?
A "cookie" is a small piece of information that a web server can store temporarily with your web browser. This is useful for having your browser remember some specific information that the web server can later retrieve. For example, when you browse through an "online shopping mall" and add items to your "shopping cart" as you browse, a list of the items you've picked up is stored by your browser so that you can pay for all of the items at once when you're finished shopping. It's much more efficient for each browser to keep track of information like this than to expect the web server to have to remember who bought what, especially if there are thousands of people using the web server at a time. As you browse the web, any cookies that servers might send to your browser are stored in your computer's memory. When you quit out of your browser, any cookies that haven't expired are written to a cookie file so they can be reloaded next time you run open your browser. (On a Mac this file is named "MagicCookie", on Unix it's "cookies", and on Windows it's "cookies.txt". You can look at this file with a text editor to see exactly what cookies are stored there, or delete the file to get rid of all of the cookies - this is harmless and shouldn't cause any problems.) A cookie file is NOT a secret way for a web server to find out everything about you and what you have on your hard drive. The ONLY way that any private information could be in your cookie file would be if you personally gave that information to a web server in the first place and it decided to put that information into your cookie file for some reason. Also, each cookie is marked with information about what web server it's for; Netscape Navigator does not send any cookies to any web server they're not for. There is absolutely no way for a web server to get access to any private information about you or your system through cookies. Also, there is no possible way that a virus could be spread through the use of cookies. Following are instructions for setting Cookies for your browser: Internet Explorer Go to "Tools" and then "Internet Options". Click the "Security" tab and then with "Internet" highlighted, click the "Default Level" button to accept the recommended settings. Netscape Navigator Go to "Edit" and then "Preferences". In the left window, highlight "Advanced" and then in the right window, choose to allow cookies.

Why does the purchasing process slow down at times? Why does processing my credit card take so long?
There are many things that could go wrong to cause access errors on a website. --Your computer could be having memory conflicts, or other internal short-term issues. --Your Internet connection could be having issues causing pages to not load or time out. --Your Internet Service Provider could be having server issues, which hinders Web access. --There could be extreme Internet traffic on the lines the you are accessing that causes a stoppage in data flow. At any rate, try again in a few minutes. If you are still stuck, send us e-mail with the details and your phone number and we will do our best to help you out! Help@Care2learn.com.

Why doesn't Care 2 Learn have streaming video?
Streaming video is a new technology that is not as reliable as we would like. We have investigated other sites that use streaming video. The comments from users are frustrated, if not downright irritable, with comments like "Why doesn't this work?" " I can't hear the sound" "My computer crashes when I bring up the course"... We don't want to do that to you. We plan on keeping up with technology - as it becomes a tool you can easily use. Technology just for the sake of technology is not our aim: learning is.
