This interactive online course was designed to teach certified nursing assistants and other healthcare aides the risks of 2009 A (H1N1) influenza, and review guidelines for patient and personal care of influenza. At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the impact of flu in the United States.
  • List three flu symptoms.
  • List three actions to take when around someone who has the flu.
  • Explain two actions to take in a flu outbreak.

About the Author: Dr. John Freitas

I am a Board Certified Family Medicine physician with over 20 years of family practice experience. I also have an extensive training background that includes serving as a clinical instructor in emergency medicine, and developing and delivering an ACLS program. I've had the honor of serving as a medical director for multiple LTC facilities, home health organizations, and hospices. In addition, I have worked within the prison system as the medical director for four county jails. I have a BS in Food Biochemistry from U.C. Davis, CA and a medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. My current position as Director of Education and Training for Care2Learn lets me use all the elements of my cumulative experience! I am also an authorized OSHA General and Construction Industry Outreach Trainer, and I am certified in infection control and epidemiology.
