Act No. 571 was enacted in the Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature in 2008. The legislation is to define requirements for dementia training in Adult Residential Care and Nursing Facilities and requires that all employees in these facilities be trained. Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Aging and Adult Services (OAAS) designated Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Health Career Institute (HCI) in Baton Rouge as the Oversight Organization for the review and approval of dementia training curricula used in post-acute care settings. Care2Learn Dementia Training Curriculum has been approved by OLOL Health Career Institute.

There are 5 different curricula designed to train Adult Residential Care staff and 6 curricula designed to train Nursing Facility Staff. Care2Learn offers the eleven curricula outlined and each is titled using the OAAS curriculum code. Please review the course description for more information on which curriculum meets your needs.
