| Description | The purpose of this course is to familiarize the learner with common impairments that result from stroke, as well as effective treatment options. This course was authored by Geoff Mosley, PT. |
| Learning Objectives | - Sumarize types of strokes, how they affect the brain and common deficits seen in patients
- Explain the most common visual impairments caused by a stroke
- Describe unilateral neglect, including its forms, evaluation and treatment
- Explain apraxia, including its forms, evaluation and treatment
- List the forms of abnormal muscle tone due to stroke and their evaluation and treatment
- Review the history, research findings and terminology of Pusher Syndrome
- Describe the characteristics of contraversive pushing
- Examine the basics of human balance
- Illustrate the methods of evaluating contraversive pushing
- Relate the treatment plans appropriate for individuals with contraversive pushing
- Describe the upper extremity treatment of patients with stroke
- Incorporate training principles into all areas of treatment of patients with stroke
- Discuss the new and standard technologies and techniques of gait training
- Determine the best wheelchair options specific to individual patients
