I have been in the online education industry for almost 10 years, and though I didn’t plan it, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Like many other people, I never saw myself as a sales person and I didn’t choose that as a career for myself. I like to say that my career chose me. I worked my way through college and I was looking for a part-time job to get me through my last few semesters. I eventually graduated with an English Literature degree from the University of South Florida, and I had every intention of becoming an English professor some day.
I applied for a customer service position with Bisk Education. They were on the cusp of releasing their first online University degree program, and my timing could not have been better. | |  | Over the next eight years, I learned a great deal of what there is to know about online education, simply because we had to learn to survive in an increasingly competitive market. Due to rapid growth at Bisk, I was given the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the business — including sales (both retail and corporate), marketing, IT, HR and production (both in the warehouse and the studio). The programs were incredibly successful and the department grew from four people in the corner of a back room of the company to a department of over 200 people with their own building. I was lucky enough to be promoted to a management position and then to director of sales over that division. I went on to implement an online “chat” sales division that revolutionized communication with prospective students. I am very proud of what I achieved at Bisk and how much I have grown. I was even more excited about the opportunity to take my experience to the next level here at Care2Learn. I am proud to say I am a Florida native. I grew up in the TampaBay area and I am very lucky that this area has attracted such an innovative and exciting company. I enjoy living and working here, and I can’t think of any place I would rather be at this point in my life. I have been with Care2Learn for over a year now, and I have to say that I love my job simply because of the management staff and sales team that I am blessed to work with on a daily basis. Every achievement and success here is shared by everyone in the company whether or not they were directly involved in the project, because everything is done as a team. That is what I like about working with a small but growing company. I get so much fulfillment working in the education field because no other product I could sell can have as much of an impact on someone’s life. To me, education is power — and I am very much looking forward to all the new and exciting ways Care2Learn will be enriching the lives of our clients. |
